Selling an Office Chair in Ireland: Adjustments, Wear and Measurements

Describe an office chair with its actual adjustments, upholstery condition and measurements, then organise a viewing that lets the buyer check the fit.

An office chair's appearance tells a buyer less than its adjustments and condition. Someone setting up a home office may need a particular seat height or arm position, while another buyer simply wants a sturdy spare. Describe the chair you have rather than promising comfort for everyone.

Identify the model and adjustments

Give the brand and model if you can verify them from a label or receipt. Do not borrow a familiar premium brand name because the shape looks similar. State which adjustments are present, such as seat height, tilt or arm movement, and explain whether you have checked each one.

If a lever has an uncertain purpose, describe that uncertainty rather than guessing. Avoid making medical or posture-correction claims. The buyer should judge suitability for their own setup and seek professional advice where needed.

Measure the dimensions that affect fit

Record seat width and depth, approximate seat-height range and overall width including the arms. Explain whether the armrests fit under your desk only as an observation about that desk, not a guarantee for every workspace.

Mention removable parts only when you know how they come apart safely. Some chairs are awkward to transport even if they roll easily, so tell buyers whether you expect collection assembled.

Show the wear honestly

Photograph the seat, back, armrests, base and controls. Include peeling material, worn fabric, stains and damaged castors. Say if the chair sinks after sitting, rocks unexpectedly or has a faulty adjustment. Do not suggest an uncertain structural issue is purely cosmetic.

Clean according to the material's care guidance. Strong cleaning products can damage fabric or coatings; a rushed makeover is less useful than an accurate account of the existing condition.

Set a practical price and collection plan

Compare similar models and condition rather than treating every high-backed chair as equivalent. State whether any spare parts or original paperwork are included. If you have several chairs, identify which one the price applies to and whether the others differ.

Allow a reasonable inspection and confirm payment independently. Mark the listing sold when collected. You can advertise your office chair or read selling a home office desk to prepare the rest of your workspace.
