Information we collect
When you create an account, we store your name, email, county, a salted password hash and account creation date. We store your ads, uploaded photos, saved ads and searches, messages, member blocks, and reports you submit. Session tokens are stored as hashes. We also use request IP information for rate limiting and our infrastructure providers may process technical logs.
What is public?
Your published ad, display name, seller type, account month and year, town and county are visible to visitors. Your email and password are not published. Messages are available to their participants. If you report an incoming message, that message, sender details and your reason become available to the moderation team. Avoid including your full address or personal information in ads and photos.
Why we use this information
We use account and listing information to provide the service you request; messages to connect buyers and sellers; saved items to support your account preferences; and reports and technical information to address misuse and protect the service. We rely on the performance of our agreement for core service features and legitimate interests in protecting the marketplace. Optional requests will be explained when offered.
Storage and providers
The service uses Cloudflare Workers for hosting, D1 for structured records and R2 for uploaded photos. Access to private records is restricted by application permissions. SiteGround provides the support mailbox and sends account confirmation and password-reset emails through authenticated SMTP. Email delivery processes the recipient address and the message, including the time-limited account link. Example ad photographs are loaded from Unsplash; your browser may send technical request information to that image provider. No advertising or third-party analytics scripts are included.
Marketplace activity measurement
We count daily visits to search results by category to improve the marketplace. These aggregate counters do not include search text, email addresses, account IDs or tracking cookies. To limit abuse, a daily-changing hash of request IP information is held temporarily in rate-limit records; expired measurement rate-limit records are cleared on subsequent measurement requests. Administrator reports also count posted ads, messages and first buyer enquiries from existing marketplace records. Counts measure activity, not unique people.
Cookies
A necessary, HTTP-only session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is used for account authentication, not advertising. Sign out to clear the browser session. No optional tracking cookies are set by the marketplace.
Retention and requests
Account records are retained while your account is active. Ads marked removed no longer appear publicly; related records, messages and reports may be retained to handle support requests, disputes and abuse. Contact info@classifiedads.ie to request access, correction, export or deletion of your personal information, or to raise a privacy concern. We will assess the request and explain any information we need to confirm your identity.
Your choices
You can change or remove your ads, remove saved ads and searches, and sign out. Where applicable, you may object to processing, request restriction or portability, withdraw consent, and complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
