How to Sell a Fridge or Freezer in Ireland: Dimensions and Collection Details

Prepare a fridge or freezer ad with exact measurements, cooling observations, included shelves and clear transport arrangements for local collection.

A fridge or freezer needs to fit both a kitchen space and the route through a doorway. Buyers also need an honest account of its operation. Before you list one, identify the model and gather measurements rather than relying on a description such as “standard size”.

Measure the complete appliance

Give height, width and depth, noting whether handles or other protruding parts affect the measurement. State whether it is freestanding, integrated, under-counter or a chest model. Mention the door opening arrangement without assuming the hinges are reversible.

Identify the manufacturer and model from the label. Include labelled capacity only when you can verify it. Do not estimate an energy rating or promise a particular electricity bill.

Describe operation and interior condition

Explain when it was last in use and what you have observed about cooling. If you measured temperature, state the context without treating a single reading as a complete technical assessment. Mention unusual noise, frost build-up, leaks, damaged seals or intermittent problems.

Photograph the interior, shelves, drawers, door and visible damage. List missing trays or cracked compartments. Clean according to the instructions and do not cover odours with a claim that the appliance is like new. If a safety issue is suspected, seek suitable advice before offering it as usable. CCPC product safety information can help identify published notices.

Plan defrosting and transport

Agree the collection time before emptying and preparing the appliance. Follow its instructions for defrosting, draining and handling. Water left inside can create a mess during movement, so allow enough preparation time.

Tell the buyer about stairs, access and the need for lifting help. Refer to the manufacturer's transport and restart instructions for the exact model rather than giving a universal wait time or transport position.

Confirm what the price covers

State whether the ad is for one appliance or a matching pair. If delivery is offered, agree its scope and cost before accepting an offer. A collection-only price should not be presented as including installation.

Let the buyer inspect the advertised condition, confirm payment independently and close the listing after collection. You can advertise your fridge or freezer and use the furniture collection guide for general access planning.
