Organise outgrown children's clothes by size and season, photograph the actual bundle and make its contents and condition clear to local buyers.

A bundle of outgrown clothes can be easier to sell than dozens of individual low-value pieces. The challenge is making the bundle understandable. A buyer should be able to see the sizes, the condition and the exact number of items without sending several messages.

Group clothes around a useful purpose

Choose one main size range and a sensible mix, such as everyday clothes or winter layers. Read the labels rather than relying on what fitted your child at a particular age. If brands fit differently, note that as an observation rather than a guaranteed sizing rule.

Keep shoes, uniforms and specialist pieces separate when they would make the bundle less coherent. A buyer looking for one age range may not want a bag spanning several years. Count complete outfits accurately: a two-piece set is different from two unrelated garments.

Inspect every piece

Check cuffs, knees, zips, buttons and seams. Separate pieces with stains, holes or missing fastenings. If you include worn extras at no additional charge, describe them separately so they do not inflate the advertised count of good-condition clothes.

Check pockets and remove name labels where possible without damaging the garment. Follow care labels when washing. Do not promise a particular hygiene standard, allergy suitability or fabric composition unless you can substantiate it.

Photograph the whole bundle

Lay items out so they can be counted. Add close-ups of representative labels and any defects. Avoid photographs of children wearing the clothes: buyers need to assess the garments, not your family photographs.

Use a title such as “Winter clothing bundle, labelled 3–4 years, 12 pieces, Cork”. In the description, list the pieces and explain any mixed sizes. State whether you are selling the bundle as one lot or will consider splitting it.

Decide whether postage makes sense

Pack and weigh the bundle before quoting delivery. Postage can be a significant part of a small purchase, so do not guess the cost. For collection, agree a time and keep the garments dry and together until handover.

Remove the listing once the bundle is sold. You can advertise children's clothing and use the guide to taking clear listing photos before you publish.
