Selling a Pram or Buggy in Ireland: What Parents Need to Know
Write a useful pram or buggy ad with model details, included accessories, folding measurements and clear information about condition and collection.
A pram can have several configurations, similar model names and a surprisingly large collection of accessories. Before selling one in Ireland, work out exactly what is included and whether it remains suitable for another family. A clean appearance alone is not evidence that a child product is safe.
Check the exact model first
Find the manufacturer label and identify the model and version. Check the manufacturer's instructions and CCPC product safety notices for relevant recalls or warnings. If an unresolved safety issue applies, do not advertise it as ready to use. Contact the manufacturer about the appropriate next step.
Describe the product you actually have. Avoid claiming suitability for a particular age or weight unless that matches the instructions for the exact configuration.
Lay out everything included
Photograph the frame, seat unit and accessories separately, then show the assembled buggy. Specify whether the rain cover, carrycot, adapters, basket and instruction booklet are included. A photograph of an accessory does not tell a buyer whether it is part of the asking price.
Check that folding mechanisms, brakes and harness components operate as intended. Disclose sticking catches, missing parts, fabric damage and wheel wear. Do not improvise a repair to a safety component or describe an uncertain fault as cosmetic.
Make transport easy to judge
Include folded dimensions where practical and say whether wheels detach according to the instructions. Buyers may need to fit the buggy into a small boot or carry it upstairs. Describe any awkward lifting or storage considerations without promising that it fits every car.
Compare the same generation of the model when setting a price. A complete travel system and a frame-only listing should not be treated as equivalent. Do not assume that an accompanying car seat is suitable for resale simply because the buggy is; it needs its own history and safety assessment.
Give the buyer time to inspect
Arrange a collection where you can demonstrate folding and show the included parts. Keep private address details out of the public listing. Answer questions about condition honestly and provide the manual if available.
