Selling Halloween Costumes in Ireland: Sizes, Accessories and Condition
Prepare Halloween costume ads with actual measurements, clear accessory lists and condition notes, plus official Irish guidance for children's costume safety.
A Halloween costume worn for one evening can still need a careful check before another person uses it. Buyers want to know whether it fits, what comes with it and whether the photographs show the actual outfit. Prepare the costume on a hanger or flat surface rather than publishing family party photographs.
Use the label and actual measurements
Give the labelled size and identify whether the costume is for an adult or child. Add useful measurements such as chest width laid flat and the length from shoulder to hem. Explain stretch fabric, adjustable sections and whether a fastening works normally.
Do not promise that a size will fit every child of a particular age. A previous wearer's age is context, not a replacement for dimensions. Keep the manufacturer's labels and any available instructions with the outfit.
Define the complete costume
List each piece: dress or jumpsuit, cape, belt, headpiece and any accessories. Photograph them together, then show detail images of defects. If shoes or a prop are for illustration only, leave them out or state clearly that they are not included.
Check seams, zips and trims. Disclose stains, tears and missing pieces. Avoid calling an outfit new because it was only tried on; describe its actual use and condition. Follow its care label before cleaning rather than assuming it can go through a hot wash.
Check children's products before resale
The CCPC's Halloween guidance explains checks for children's costumes and accessories, including CE marking and age suitability. Follow the advice for the particular product. A label does not justify ignoring damage or a known recall.
Do not add a homemade accessory to a children's outfit and claim that the whole bundle has been safety assessed. If you cannot establish that an item is appropriate to pass on, leave it out and seek suitable guidance.
Make the timing realistic
State your locality and available collection windows. If posting, check the actual service before promising arrival for a party. An attractive costume arriving too late is not useful to the buyer.
Confirm what the agreed price includes, check payment independently and mark the outfit sold after handover. Create a costume listing, or read about selling Halloween decorations for the rest of your seasonal box.
