Selling Blankets and Throws in Ireland: Fabric Labels, Size and Clean Condition

Prepare blanket and throw listings with actual dimensions, verified materials, honest condition photographs and a clear statement of what each price includes.

A decorative throw and a large bed blanket may look similar when folded. Buyers need dimensions and condition details to decide which one they are viewing. Before listing, unfold the textile completely, check both sides and find its care and composition labels.

Give the actual dimensions

Measure length and width and explain whether fringe is included. Do not assume that a retailer's size name tells the buyer whether it fits their intended bed or sofa. If the blanket has changed size after washing, describe its current dimensions.

Copy material information from the label where available. Do not call an unlabelled item pure wool or cashmere based on softness alone. If you know the maker or collection, include it without treating a resemblance to another product as identification.

Inspect before folding for photos

Look for holes, pulled threads, pilling, stains and damaged edges. Photograph the full surface, reverse, label and defects. A neatly folded image can support the listing, but it should not be the only view of a large textile.

Mention relevant storage or household conditions you can accurately describe. Do not guarantee allergy suitability or imply that a blanket has never been used because it has spent a long time in a cupboard. If it has mould or another issue making normal reuse unsuitable, do not advertise it as a clean household item.

Follow the care label

Clean only using a suitable method. Do not shrink a textile or damage its backing with an unfamiliar treatment intended to make it appear newer. State whether specialist cleaning remains necessary and avoid promising that a particular stain will disappear.

This guide concerns ordinary blankets and decorative throws. Powered bedding or heated products need their own condition and electrical-safety assessment; do not bundle one into a normal textile offer without addressing those requirements.

Package a clear offer

State whether the price is for one blanket, a pair or a counted bundle. Keep colours and sizes identified when selling several pieces. Weigh the packed parcel before quoting postage and store everything dry until collection or dispatch.

Compare similar materials, size and condition, then confirm payment independently at handover. Create your textile listing, or read selling rugs for a separate checklist for heavier floor furnishings.
