How to Sell Leftover Tiles in Ireland: Batch Codes, Quantity and Condition
List spare wall or floor tiles with exact measurements, batch and product information, a checked quantity and clear collection requirements.
Leftover tiles can be useful for a small job or a repair, but similar colour names do not guarantee a match. A buyer needs to identify the actual product and usable quantity. Keep boxes and labels together while preparing the listing instead of transferring everything into an unmarked pile.
Copy the product information accurately
Give the manufacturer and product code from the packaging where known. Photograph the shade, batch, calibre and other relevant labels without assuming they are interchangeable. Explain if the lot contains boxes from more than one batch.
Measure a tile and identify whether the stated size comes from the label or your own measurement. Describe the intended use according to verified product information, rather than claiming that every tile is suitable for outdoor steps, wet rooms or another specialist application.
Count usable pieces separately
Open packaging only as appropriate and check the contents you can. List complete unused tiles, cut pieces and damaged pieces separately. A box containing several broken corners should not count as a full box of usable tiles.
If you quote coverage, explain the calculation and make clear that it does not include the buyer's cutting or wastage allowance. Ask the buyer to confirm that the quantity and specification suit their project before travelling.
Show colour and storage condition
Photograph the face, edge, reverse and any marks. Use ordinary light without filters, while noting that screen colour is not a guaranteed physical match. A buyer repairing an existing floor may need to inspect the actual tile before deciding.
Explain whether pieces were stored dry and protected. Do not call an opened box new and sealed. If you are including adhesive, grout or other materials, identify them separately and check whether their condition and the platform's rules permit sale; do not assume every old opened product remains usable.
Agree lifting and collection
State the number of boxes and any weight information you can verify. Ask the buyer to arrange suitable transport and lifting help. Keep edges protected and do not leave loose tiles in a walkway while waiting for collection.
Price the actual usable lot, confirm what is included and update the ad after sale. Advertise spare tiles, or use the unused DIY materials guide to sort other leftovers separately.
