A portable keyboard and a cabinet-style digital piano can require very different collection arrangements. Before listing either one, identify the exact model and check what can be demonstrated. Buyers should know both what the instrument does and how they can get it home.

Describe the instrument accurately

Give the manufacturer and model number from its label. Include the number of keys and describe the key action using the manufacturer's terminology where known. Do not call an instrument fully weighted simply because the keys feel heavier than another keyboard.

List included pedals, power supply, music rest, bench and stand. If the instrument uses a separate adapter, show the correct adapter that belongs to it. Mention whether the stand is fixed, removable or a separate accessory.

Test more than the power light

Try every key at a moderate volume and explain any sticking keys, missing notes or uneven response. Check speakers, headphone output and pedals where possible. If you have not tested USB or MIDI functions, make that clear rather than describing every feature as working.

Show the control panel, keys, cabinet and any damage. A short demonstration arranged with a genuine buyer can be useful, but avoid displaying personal account information if the instrument is connected to another device.

Explain size and collection

Measure the assembled instrument and say whether it can be dismantled according to the manual. Explain floor level and access at the collection point. A buyer may need a van and lifting help rather than a normal car boot.

Do not dismantle unfamiliar parts or leave a heavy cabinet unsecured. If an acoustic piano is involved, use specialist advice about movement rather than assuming this digital-instrument checklist is sufficient.

Set a price for the complete offer

Compare the same model and generation, accounting for faults and included furniture. A current replacement model may have different features, so keep those comparisons separate. State whether the asking price covers the bench and stand or the keyboard alone.

At handover, demonstrate the agreed functions, count accessories and verify payment independently. Once collected, mark the ad sold. You can post a music equipment ad and read how to handle offers before negotiations begin.
