Selling a Guitar Amplifier in Ireland: Combo or Head, Controls and Collection
Prepare an amplifier listing with the exact model, included cabinet or footswitch, honest operating observations and a collection plan for heavy equipment.
An amplifier listing needs to distinguish a combo, a separate head and a speaker cabinet. A buyer should not have to infer the package from a rehearsal-room photograph. Identify the actual equipment and explain the operating checks you can safely demonstrate without opening or modifying electrical components.
Define the exact equipment for sale
Record the manufacturer and full model from the unit. Explain whether the speaker cabinet is built in or separate, and state which units the price covers. Use verified product information for specifications rather than estimating output from the size of the enclosure.
List the correct power lead, footswitch, cover and other included accessories. Do not suggest that any cable can substitute for the specified connection between equipment. Compatibility needs to be checked through the relevant manufacturer documentation.
Describe the controls you have checked
If the setup is safe and you are familiar with it, explain the ordinary demonstration you performed. State the instrument and relevant settings without claiming that every input, channel, effect and output has been fully assessed.
Disclose crackling controls, intermittent output, failed effects and unusual noise you have noticed. Avoid hiding an intermittent fault by demonstrating only one setting. A buyer may need an appropriate technician's assessment where a problem is unresolved.
Show condition and genuine service history
Photograph the enclosure, grille, corners, handles, controls and connection panel. Explain missing feet, damaged sockets, torn coverings and known repairs. Provide genuine service records where available, with personal details removed from public images.
Do not open an amplifier or invite a buyer to inspect live internal components. Some equipment can present hazards even when disconnected. Describe the limits of your knowledge instead of offering technical repair instructions or a safety assurance based on appearance.
Plan the practical handover
Measure and, where you can do so appropriately, establish the equipment's transport weight. Explain stairs, loading access and whether the buyer should bring help. Agree any demonstration before the appointment so it can happen with an appropriate setup.
Compare the same model and condition rather than all amplifiers from the brand. A head without a cabinet is a different package from a working combo. If posting, check suitable handling and carrier acceptance before agreeing a charge.
Use the guitar selling guide for an instrument advertised alongside the amp. Browse the marketplace, then create your amplifier listing with each included component and known limitation visible in the description.
