Selling a Computer Monitor in Ireland: Ports, Refresh Rates and Pixel Checks
Write a monitor listing with verified resolution, connection and refresh-rate details, clear condition photographs and a complete accessory list.
A monitor can be a useful second-hand purchase for a home office or gaming setup, but buyers need the specifications of the exact model. Do not rely on appearance or a retailer's description of a similar screen. The model number gives both sides a reliable starting point.
Separate size from display capability
State the screen size, model number and native resolution where known. Include the refresh rate you have verified, explaining any connection or setting needed to obtain it. A cable or port limitation can matter to a buyer's intended setup.
List the available connections, such as HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C, after checking the actual monitor. Do not assume a USB-C socket provides laptop charging or video input simply because the connector fits. Refer buyers to the model's specifications for uncertain compatibility.
Explain what you tested
Check the picture on a suitable connected device. Describe known pixel defects, marks, flickering or intermittent connections. If you used a particular test pattern or only checked normal desktop use, say so without claiming professional calibration.
Photograph the screen powered on, the casing and the ports. Show damage to the bezel, stand or cable sockets. Clean only using an appropriate method from the manufacturer's guidance; do not try to polish out screen marks with unsuitable products.
Make accessories explicit
Include the original or appropriate power supply, stand and any cables that are part of the sale. If the monitor is currently on an arm, explain whether the arm, mounting screws or original stand are included. An otherwise usable monitor may be awkward for a buyer without the correct support.
Compare prices for the same model and condition. A business display and a gaming model of the same size may offer very different features, so size alone is a weak pricing reference.
Arrange a useful handover
If possible, agree a demonstration before disconnecting the monitor. Explain whether it has its original packaging and let the buyer arrange safe transport. Protect the panel from pressure and follow appropriate handling guidance.
