How to Sell an Artificial Christmas Tree in Ireland: Height, Width and Missing Branches
Prepare an artificial Christmas tree ad with assembled dimensions, clear branch and stand details and a realistic plan for collection and storage.
An artificial tree may look compact in its box but be too wide or tall for a buyer's room. A useful listing shows it assembled and describes the actual parts included. Do not rely entirely on a picture from the year it was first bought.
Assemble it before claiming completeness
Check the main sections, branch attachments and stand using the original instructions if available. Explain whether branches are hinged or fitted individually. If you have not assembled the tree recently, say that completeness has not been fully checked.
Photograph the tree from more than one side. Show sparse areas, damaged attachments and repairs rather than placing the best side towards the camera every time. Note shedding or deterioration that you have observed.
Measure the room it needs
Give the assembled height, including the stand, and the approximate widest spread. State the number of sections and the dimensions of the storage box where useful. A manufacturer's advertised height should not be confused with the height available beneath a particular ceiling.
Describe the colour and finish accurately. If artificial snow or flocking comes away, explain that. Do not claim that a material is fireproof or safe beside a heater without appropriate product information and instructions.
Separate pre-lit features from the tree itself
For a pre-lit model, describe which lighting functions you have checked and identify the included controller or power supply. Explain failed sections and intermittent operation. Do not improvise electrical repairs or substitute an adapter to make the listing appear complete.
Consult the product instructions and relevant CCPC safety information if you are uncertain whether it is suitable to pass on. A working light sequence alone does not establish that all safety checks are satisfied.
Pack for the agreed collection
Decide whether the tree will be displayed for inspection or packed before the buyer arrives, and explain that arrangement. Bag small fittings securely and keep the stand with the correct sections. Do not leave it in a damp shed or outside while awaiting collection.
Set a price based on the tree's current condition and completeness, not just the original retail tag. Create a tree listing, or use the seasonal storage guide for boxes and containers you no longer need.
